What to expect from your hospital care

Did you know? Here’s what you can expect from your hospital care.

When you’re under the care of a hospital specialist, there are certain responsibilities that sit with the hospital team.

Your specialist should:

✔️ Answer questions about your care, even after you’ve left the hospital.

✔️ Request any tests you need and share the results with you.

✔️ Prescribe the first supply of any new medication they recommend (and provide it immediately if it’s clinically urgent).

✔️ Issue fit notes for the condition they’ve treated.

✔️ Help with any appointment queries through their team.

You shouldn’t be told to contact your GP about these responsibilities, as they are covered by the hospital’s contract.
